Who are the “migrants” coming to our southern border? “Immigrants” is the new scare word of right-wing political extremists. “Vermin,” “rapists,” “pushers,” “invaders.” Can we think of any more dehumanizing names to call this movement of people attempting to cross our borders?

Today well over half the discretionary federal budget (your income tax dollars) go for war, weapons of war and the bureaucracies of war – the “armies” from which “proceed debt and taxes.” A large percentage of the national debt is the result of Pentagon spending and the cost of wars. We spend more on “defense” than the next 10 military powers in the world combined (and most of those ten are our allies).

Each day a cease fire in Gaza is more imperative. An enduring and sustained ceasefire is essential for all people.
Our second Gaza pilgrimage this past Saturday brought 30 people joining in the walk. We were all heartened to hear car horns honking in solidarity for the cause.

Join us for a Peace Walk calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to military aid to Israel or any other parties in the Middle East.
We call for an enduring and sustained Ceasefire immediately.

The April Women for Women will feature ECDC and New Beginnings, helping refugees resettle in the Wausau area.
New Beginnings for Refugees is a Wausau-based community organization which supports refugees throughout critical stages of the resettlement process in Central Wisconsin. We strive to complement the work of ECDC, an experienced national resettlement agency who is opening an office in Wausau.

Lira was a political commentator on social media who was critical of the U.S. and its proxy war in Ukraine. Abducted by Ukrainian authorities, he died for exercising the right of free speech.
