Legislators: This is a copy of the letter I will be sending to news outlets in central and northern Wisconsin. It is intended to promote thought about gun safety laws and the well being of children and families in our state. I'm sending it to you as a statement of support for both increased mental health and public school funding where mental health problems can be best identified and addressed.

NAOMI is excited to be involved with the 2023 Martin Luther King (MLK) celebration, as well as the events being planned for Black History Month in February. But first the MLK Celebration. An important issue right now is the potential banning of the book Gender Queer from the Marathon County Public Library shelves. The topic is likely to be brought up at the Library Board meeting Monday, Oct. 17, 12 noon in the Community Room at the Library. Many people who think the book is inappropriate for young people have spoken up to the Board members. People with different views may be unaware this issue is even going on.
