THE URGENT NEED FOR SKEPTICISM

1953:

Few Americans remember the CIA orchestrated coup that overthrew the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran. Dr. Mohammad Mosaddegh won the election in 1951 and began implementing reforms to benefit the citizens of Iran. With the full support of his people, Mosaddegh nationalized the Iranian oil industry which had been under British control since 1913 through the Anglo-Persian Oil Company (now BP – British Petroleum). For 40 years the corporation had plundered the oil wealth of Iran, leaving her people with next to nothing.

Naturally, U.S. based corporations saw Iran’s actions as a potentially contagious threat to their own exploitation of people and nations around the world. Mossadegh had to go. A repressive dictator, the Shah of Iran, was returned to his throne.

Yes but, the CIA alleges the Russians hacked the Democratic Party and influenced our elections.

1973:

“The issues are much too important for the Chilean voters to be left to decide for themselves.” – – Henry Kissinger, justifying the U.S. overthrow and assassination of Chile’s democratically elected president, Dr. Salvador Allende, in 1973.

“He [Kissinger] was worried that successful economic development, where the economy produces benefits for the general population – not just profits for private corporations – would have a contagious effect.” – – Noam Chomski – Secrets, Lies, and Democracy

“make the[Chilean] economy scream.” – – President Richard Nixon discussing tactics to undermine the Allende presidency

“do all within our power to condemn Chile and the Chileans to utmost deprivation and poverty.” – – Edward Korry, U.S. Ambassador to Chile

Chile is one of many Latin and South American nations where the private banking cartel and corporations used the CIA to overthrow democratically elected leaders. Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, have all fallen prey to the same imperialism.

Yes but, the CIA and the FBI say Russia may have interfered with our elections.

Flashback 1944:

As World War II ended, Europe and Japan were in economic ruin. At a historic meeting in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, forty-four countries agreed to fix their currencies to the U.S. dollar. Known as the Bretton Woods monetary system, countries thereafter settled all international balances in US dollars, and dollars were convertible to gold. The agreement proved enormously beneficial to the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Wall Street banks that own it. Since the United States held most of the world’s official gold reserves, all seemed well.

But by the 1960’s exports from Europe and Japan became competitive with U.S. products. The deteriorating U.S. balance of payments eventually resulted in more foreign-held dollars than the United States had gold. In 1971. Fearing a run on the precious metal, President Richard Nixon closed the gold window. This prevented a banking collapse, but the dollar was now unbacked fiat money and vulnerable as the world’s reserve currency.

In 1973/74, then Secretary of State Henry Kissinger made arrangements with Saudi Arabia ensuring that, in exchange for military protection, all future international oil sales could only be done in U.S. dollars. The other OPEC nations soon followed and the oil-backed “petrodollar” was born. The banking cartel was once again in control and virtually all energy importing nations on Earth continued to be held hostage to the dollar.

2000:

In the year 2000, former U.S. ally Saddam Hussein ( the brutal dictator had been installed by the CIA) had enough of American hegemony and the dwindling value of the petrodollar. He would begin selling Iraqi oil in Euros. It was the death sentence for Hussein and over 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians. The bankers who run Washington D.C. were not about to give up their parasitic privileges. Oil corporations saw an opportunity to take over Iraq’s oil resources, and the U.S. “defense” industry was salivating over potentially huge profits from war. It was a matter of time and the right opportunity.

2001:

The right opportunity arrived in the form of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Towers in New York. For the banking cartel and the oil and arms corporations, it would be the gift that keeps on giving.

2003:

On March 19, 2003 the United States launched a preemptive war against Iraq based on lies by President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and others about the supposed existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that nation’s non-existent affiliation with al Qaeda. Over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men women and children would be sacrificed for U.S. corporate imperialism. (Please take the time to read an excellent report by Charles Lewis, Moyers and Company)

Yes but, the CIA says Russia hacked Democratic Party emails exposing how the Clinton team and the Democratic National Committee unethically colluded to undermine the campaign of Bernie Sanders.

2011:

Under Muammar Quaddafi, Libya had become the wealthiest nation with the highest standard of living in all of Africa. But Qaddafi made a mistake. He assumed a leadership role with other African states that wanted an independent pan-African currency and proposed that the Libyan dinar and the silver dirham be used in purchasing African oil. The imperialist supremacy of the French franc, the U.S. petrodollar, and the oil industry were under threat.

Based on total lies by French, U.K. and U.S. intelligence agencies, NATO, led by the United States, launched a preemptive war for regime change in Libya. Contrary to almost all of the reports published by western media, Quaddafi had no intentions of conducting an “attack on civilians,” and the U.S. bombing had nothing to do with preventing a humanitarian “bloodbath.” Indeed, the actions of the United States and NATO caused one.Thousands upon thousands of Libyans have been killed or displaced. The most advanced nation in Africa is now a war torn ruin. (Please take the time to read a history of events in Libya by Ben Norton in Salon. It leads to understanding the current war mongering with Russia.)

Yes but, America’s intelligence agencies say Russia swayed our elections against Clinton.

2012:

“The Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA are making war plans for Syria. “Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explicitly declared that Washington’s policy toward Syria is now in what she called the “operational” phase.” “Make no mistake: this is regime change by force. It’s not exactly like Iraq, and it’s not exactly like Libya (yet)—but it’s regime change by force anyway.” – – Bob Dreyfuss, The Nation

Syria now represents one of the greatest humanitarian crises in all of human history.

Yes but, Russia interfered . . .

2016/2017:

Russia did indeed interfere. It drew a line in the sand and said US corporate imperialism was not going to create regime change in Syria. It would be a direct threat to Russia’s goals and security in the region. There has been little coverage in the US mainstream media, but the United States is now undertaking massive military deployment to Eastern Europe.

“There is also no doubt that the West’s neocons and liberal hawks want desperately to instigate a “regime change” in Moscow, in part, as punishment for Putin interfering in their “regime change” schemes for Syria and Iran”. – – Robert Parry, Consortium News

In a strange turn of events the CIA has recently released more “evidence” of Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election, this time stating that it shows compromising “information” against President-Elect Donald Trump. Apparently Trump’s suggestions that we might work peacefully with Russia are unacceptable to the goals of U.S. corporate imperialism.

In the words of Mike Whitney of Counterpunch:

“The Russia hacking story has more to do with recent developments in Syria than it does with delegitimizing Donald Trump. Aleppo was a real wake up call for the US foreign policy establishment which is beginning to realize that their plans for the next century have been gravely undermined by Russia’s military involvement in Syria. Aleppo represents the first time that an armed coalition of allied states (Russia, Iran, Syria, Hezbollah) have actively engaged US jihadist-proxies and soundly beat them to a pulp. The stunning triumph in Aleppo has spurred hope among the vassal states that Washington’s bloody military juggernaut can be repelled, rolled back and defeated. And if Washington’s CIA-armed, trained and funded jihadists can be repelled, then the elitist plan to project US power into Central Asia to dominate the world’s most populous and prosperous region, will probably fail.”

Today:

The good people of planet Earth, no matter where they chanced to be born, are being placed in grave danger of nuclear war by the insatiable greed and power lust of the world’s most sociopathic oligarchs.
