WHAT’S A WOMAN WORTH?

Please join us for an afternoon of learning and lively conversation on a topic of concern everywhere in our society: wage (and often power) inequalities that women continue to face in the workplace. Wage disparity not only adversely affects women and their families all their working lives, but in retirement as well. This discussion puts all of these topics on the table.

“What’s a Woman Worth?” will be held Thursday, September 14 at WEAC Region 3 Office, 1136 N. Military Road in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The time is 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Pay inequality is a pervasive and enduring practice that affects working women at all levels, but has an especially negative impact on minorities. Inspired by a 2016 AAUW (American Association of University Women) study, What’s a Woman Worth? Was prepared by POWRS Steering Committee Members Kay Johnson, Joyce Luedke and Kathleen Marsh. In an easy-to-follow and understand Power Point format, the presentation details the effects of the wage gap at both the state and national level and what can be done about it.

We encourage you to attend and to invite others to this informative, spirited and interactive discussion as we outline the problem and share our own personal stories regarding the impacts of wage inequity on our lives, even into retirement.

This event is hosted by POWRS (Protect Our Wisconsin Retirement Security), an organization dedicated to bringing retirement security to all citizens. POWRS will also be updating attendees on legislative and policy matters affecting the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) and Group Health system for public employees and annuitants.
