Devils Lake State Park acreage given to a billion-dollar company to use for its own gain?

We don’t think Wisconsin would stand for that.

IT HAS HAPPENED TO KOHLER ANDRAE STATE PARK

A Wisconsin ecological gem

A camping paradise

467,000 + visitors (2018 attendance)

19-million-dollar economic benefit to state

Held in trust by the state for the benefit of its residents.

The DNR created a deal benefiting the previous governor’s donor.

WI law and DNR procedures ignored.

Value of Kohler Ardrae State Park misrepresented.

Federal LAWCON requirements manipulated.

Taxpayers and residents of Wisconsin stripped of their right to challenge a state agency by 2022 State Supreme Court

“(A)allowing the State of Wisconsin to give away valuable and ecologically rare state park public property to a private company for their personal business/profit use is ‘wrong’ and is the worst kind of precedence to set. The public expects their DNR to preserve and enhance our state parks, forests, and other public lands and to protect our water quality and rare wetland habitat for the benefit of all Wisconsin citizens.”

-James Buchholz, former 26-year Superintendent of Kohler Andrae State Park

Governor Evers must act to review and nullify.

Allowing a Land Exchange Agreement to stand could set a precedent that our state parks can be used as bargaining chips by any administration.

The natural park entrance will be bulldozed and replaced with a rotary leading to the Kohler proposed golf course. A road will be cut from the rotary through habitat protected since the 1960’s it when was taken from residents by eminent domain to add to the park.

These state park dunes and the photos below will be leveled for a 20,000 sq. ft. maintenance complex which will store diesel equipment, fuel and pesticides

Below, the land received from Kohler in exchange for the state park land.

The State traded prime ecologically significant land kept undeveloped for its habitat, for the above broken down buildings, inaccessible to the park visitors.
We have been prevented this for 9 years. Help us continue the work to save an ecosystem and restore WI. residents’ rights to protect their common resources of land, air and water.
