KEEP AREA TEENS SAFE (KATS) is a new agency in Wausau. It is a non-profit agency for runaway and homeless youth. KATS recently bought a house and is renovating it, expecting to provide services for youth ages 12-17. Opening date is 2020.

Women’s Community of Wausau and Warming Center offer services to people age eighteen and above. There has been no place for youth 12-17. KATS was formed to meet that need.

Young people in central Wisconsin are homeless for various reasons. They are at risk of being lost to human trafficking and beyond. These youth need a structured and caring place that enforces their worth in our community. They may feel alone with no one to go to.

KATS’ new home will provide a welcoming transitional home for up to eight teens at any given time. The home will be a safe haven for 30 days while a long-term safe place is found for the teens.

KATS is a non-profit agency which will provide housing, meals, case management, academic support and other needed services. The aim is to keep teens off the street to decrease the risk for trafficking or drug addiction and to help them succeed in their life.

KATSINC.ORG is a tax-exempt not-for-profit 501©3 organization. For more information, contact KATS Inc., c/o NCCAP, 911 Jackson Street, Wausau, WI 54403.
