Do You Know Where Your Ancestors Came From?

The United States is a country of immigrants and they came for many reasons.

Donald Trump’s grandfather, Frederick, was born in 1869 in Kallstadt, which was in the Kingdom of Bavaria. He immigrated to the US in 1885 to escape three years of compulsory military service in Germany. Frederick’s wife, Elisabeth Christ, also lived in Kallstadt and immigrated to the US.

Donald Trump’s father, Fred, married a woman, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born in Scotland.

Donald Trump’s first wife, Ivana Zelnićková, was born in Czechoslovakia in 1949. She immigrated to Canada and was living in Canada in the 1970’s. Ivana and Donald Trump were married in 1977, and Ivana became a US citizen in 1988.

Donald Trump’s present wife, Melania Knavs, was born in Slovenia. She became a US citizen in 2006. Melania and their son, Barron, have dual citizenship in Slovenia and the USA.

Did your ancestors who came to this country to seek a better life “poison the blood”?

Did your ancestors come from Central or South America? Donald Trump says: “These aren’t people. These are animals.”

This was true at the Green Bay Rally on April 2, 2024. Trump said, “I’ll use the word ‘animal’ because that’s what they are.” And the people in the audience cheered!!

We must remember we are recovering from the pandemic recession, “and immigrant workers are essential to the continued growth of the labor force and overall productivity.”

Just visit a large farm in Wisconsin and see the immigrants who work on these farms. They are essential to the dairy industry.

And yes, immigrants pay into Social Security: undocumented workers paid $13 billion into Social Security in 2019. And they receive no benefits.

We are all ancestors of immigrants who enriched our country in so many ways.

Part of the poem on the Statue of Liberty says: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to be free.”

The 2nd commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Do you believe some people are “animals”? Do you believe people from other countries “poison the blood”? Do you agree with the hatred that is spewed on a daily basis by Trump and other people?

If you don’t agree, what do you plan to do about it?
