WALZ VISIT TO WAUSAU

 

For those who are not on Facebook, here are a few photos from Governor Tom Walz visit to Wausau on September 13, 2024. What an honor it was to be selected as a driver in the Walz motorcade!! I transported the national press. I have seen motorcades before, but I cannot even begin to explain the thrill of driving in one. It is amazing to see the work of the secret service. I cannot say enough about their thoroughness and commitment. The precision is astounding. We lost track of how many times our vehicle and our person is checked, wanded and sniffed by the dogs.

Governor Walz himself is truly a genuine person. He is a lot like our own Governor, telling it like it is. Those of us in the motorcade, we were escorted in one by one, security checked going in for a photo op while someone from the Secret Service guarded our vehicle, you were again security checked before you came back to the vehicle. I managed to ask Governor Walz if he and I could get a selfie for my nephew in Seattle, “you bet we can do that,” he says. His visit included stopping at the Ukrainian Bakery known as  Just Right Cakes, Coffee, and gifts, and then on to a Volunteer Appreciation at Whitewater.

The return trip is equally detailed. Men and women from the State Patrol pass and repass to block off any entrances for traffic. No one moves or leaves the tarmac until the plane is safely in the air.
