Friends of Rib Mountain State Park Snowshoe Hikes
Hello to all the Friends of Rib Mountain State Park,
After a very successful snowshoe hike in January, the Friends of Rib Mountain will again be putting on a snowshoe hike on Saturday, February 4, from 5-7 PM. There is lots of room, fireplace inside, campfire outside, heated restrooms, and all we need is YOU. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. Our hikes are set up to be family friendly and scenic. The park even has an area where you can set up to take your own selfies! Talk about scenic, take a look at some of the photos from our January hike!
We have a great time hosting these events and as always it takes volunteers to make these safe and fun. We welcome volunteers to help lighting and placing the battery-operated candles in clear cups on the marked trail, setting up everything in the building, helping with parking, assisting Joel Braatz sometimes with snowshoe fitting, serving hot chocolate and cider, stoking the campfire and handing out marshmallows and sticks. Then about 7 pm we need people out on the trail collecting the candles and cups, and some help with shelter cleanup. We would love contributions of cookies, treats or bars for hungry snowshoers.
We don’t charge a fee to those who come to enjoy the hike, but donations are VERY welcome to cover the cost of food and drinks, and for the loaned snowshoes.
Let us know if you have any questions.
