CODEPINK
In the past week, we have seen the US propaganda machine completely expose itself. In protest of the incoming TikTok ban, Americans have been flooding the Chinese social media app RedNote. Through interacting with Chinese citizens, new RedNote users have learned that the US government has been completely lying about China!
Labeled “TikTok refugees” by Chinese netizens, local users have embraced the newcomers with open arms and a lot of humor. Not only that, but this cross-cultural moment has opened a vacuum for people-to-people interactions, allowing Chinese citizens to candidly share their thoughts and their lives with Americans who know little to nothing about China.
It’s time to meet the moment and join in on the rare moment of open communication!
Follow CODEPINK on RedNote and Promote Dialogue Between the US and China!
The spontaneous connection between US and Chinese citizens undercuts a rapidly escalating war climate between the US and China. In October, the US government approved another $2 billion weapons deal to Taiwan, citing a probable incoming conflict with China. In response, China sanctioned US weapons companies for destabilizing the region and undermining the long-held One China policy.
Meanwhile, Trump is surrounding himself with warhawks like Marco Rubio, who are hell-bent on pushing us into what would be a horrific war with China. In dangerous moments like this, we need open people-to-people dialogue more than ever.
RedNote is providing us with a fresh avenue that is capable of circumventing the weaponization of the media and allowing US and Chinese citizens to easily connect from different sides of the globe. It is just what we need to help diffuse all the terrible anti-China propaganda that is attempting to manufacture consent for war.
It’s up to you and me – the people – to decide who we should be calling an “enemy” rather than adhering to the whims of our next war-obsessed administration. As we can see from our new Chinese friends on RedNote, China is most certainly not our enemy, and war is something we should be fighting against at all costs!
