Support for Israel is not good for America

Recently Iran attacked Israel with missiles and drones. President Biden pledged full U.S. support to defend Israel. But is it really in the national interests of the United States to unconditionally support and defend Israel? Israel and Iran have been engaged in low level conflict for decades. The latest incident began when Israel bombed the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1, 2024. Iran responded on April 13th with a drone and missile attack on Israel. Mom’s Story

Mom’s Story April 21, 2024 My Mom was born in 1914. From what I understand, she was born in a two-room log cabin that was part of a lumber camp in northern Wisconsin. Her parent’s borrowed some money to buy 20 acres of cut-over land to begin a small family farm in northern Wisconsin. She would tell me that they never went hungry; although, she wanted her mother to buy a box of cornflakes which they couldn’t afford. She worked hand in hand with her parents on the farm, along with three of her uncles who lived with them as the farm eventually grew to 160 ...

Help Reduce to Homelessness in Wausau

Individuals without housing are a part of many communities across the country. Unhoused people face challenges that are varied and not easily addressed. As long as their housing  and other individual needs remain unmet, some collisions with the interests of the broader community are likely. Won’t our city and county benefit most if we don’t simplify this complex issue and instead explore multiple perspectives and approaches? Aren’t we best served by moderating differences to craft reasonable problem-solving plans and implementation measures? Compromise, as ...

HOMELESS IN AMERICA

Homelessness has become a serious problem across every town and city in America. It taxes city councils and police departments alike. Yet homelessness across the nation is set to double in the next 5 years. This problem isn’t going away. In reality, there is little city councils or law enforcement can do to solve this problem. The roots of homelessness are national. Cities like Wausau, WI must deal with the immediate problems, but real solutions are outside of their control. Addressing concerns at the national level often seems hopelessly out of reach. But there is ...
