Joan Baez Goes Viral With Trump Protest Song

"Here's a little song/about a man gone wrong/while building up his evil empire" Joan Baez, protest singer of the peace and civil rights movements of the 1960s, has gone viral with a protest song for today's Trump era, called "Nasty Man." The song features roses in the Rose Garden telling President Donald Trump that he "owes the Earth a pardon;" pokes fun at the president for his border wall plans and Melania Trump's notable absence from the White House; and suggests that he "better talk to a shrink" for his "serious psychological disorders." In the song, Baez ...

Who Cares About Us?

annabelle apartments
More than 40 people were facing eviction from their “homes” if the Annabelle Apartments on Bridge Street were torn down to make room for another Kwik-Trip. We sat down with them and heard: **“This is a community. We look out for each other.” “We’re like a family.” **“We have a vested interest to keep this place safe, quiet, and peaceful.” **“We’re in a panic.” “I don’t want to sleep under a bridge.” “I don’t want to be homeless again.” ***”Where will we go?” “This is about a person’s dignity.” Although, Kwik-T...

SPIRITUALITY, POLITICS AND CLIMATE CHANGE

The ways our spirituality and our politics interact can be profoundly significant. Recently, during a very pleasant conversation I was told that God gave us dominion over the earth. That comment startled me then and has bothered me ever since, germinating a few thoughts along the way. It seems wholly outrageous that our Creator would put us in charge of something as complex as this planet - at least as outrageous as the idea of us accepting the offer. How could we even consider dominating the earth when just by tweaking the carbon dioxide settings in our atmosphere ...

CITIZEN ACTION MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Citizen Action North Central Wisconsin Co-op member Hans Breitenmoser Jr. spearheaded a successful effort to pass a non-partisan redistricting resolution on the Lincoln County Board last week. By roll call vote, Lincoln County Democrats and Republicans stood up together and said our system for drawing these lines is fundamentally flawed and needs to be changed. A copy will be sent to the Governor, the Counties Association, the Towns Association, the League of Municipalities, all members of the state legislature and to each Wisconsin county. In Wausau co-op members ...

PART ll ….CHEMICALS AND AUTISM

(Denele Campbell blogs from Arkansas.) Despite compelling and well-documented scientific studies showing the strong link between certain chemicals and a slate of neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism, the EPA has for decades postponed any meaningful action to more strictly regulate (or ban) the culprits. In a recent publication, scientists stated: In 2006, we did a systematic review and identified five industrial chemicals as developmental neurotoxicants: lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls, arsenic, and toluene. Since 2006, epidemiological ...
