JOIN THE LABOR DAY PARADE ON SEPTEMBER 3….
Last year, the Citizen Action of WI North Central Organizing Co-op was honored to be awarded Citizens of the Year by the Marathon County Central Labor Council AFL-CIO.
The line-up for parade is on Monday, September 3rd @ 3:00 pm from the corner of 3rd Ave and West Wausau Ave.
Parade starts at 4:00 pm and will go down 3rd Ave and end at the Wausau Labor Temple at 318 S 3rd Ave., Wausau, Wisconsin.
We will recognize Grand Marshal, Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year at the end the parade in the Wausau Labor Temple parking lot.

WORKERS’ MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY
A wreath was placed on the Memorial for Workers in a recent ceremony at the Workers’ Memorial Park on River Drive in Wausau (next to the Farmers’ Market).
There was a moment of silence for the workers killed in the recent helicopter crash as well as for people affected by the explosion in Superior, Wisconsin.

FARMERS UNION: AGITATE, ORGANIZE, EDUCATE AND COOPERATE

Owen Franklin Dornblazer was the 11th person to join The Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union of America in 1902. He lived to the age of 94 and was active in organizational and membership work until the final few months of his life. At age 85, addressing the 1926 NFU convention, he said, “There was nothing for those who began it, only the future.” I believe that statement still rings true today.

Protect Workers
We are calling on politicians in Madison to immediately take up a number of pro-worker bills designed to boost wages, promote pay equity, ensure fair scheduling and protect retirement security.
The Legislature should hold an immediate vote on bills that protect Wisconsin’s workers and move our working families forward. A number bills, outlined below, that support and uplift working families have languished in committees since their introduction. Now is the time for these bills to receive a vote.

This is the third annual Labor History Event, sponsored by Marathon County Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, IBEW Local 388 and School for Workers of the Education for Workplace Democracy.
Lunch will be provided by the Northeast Wisconsin Building and Construction Trades Council.
