COMMON THEMES

Common themes intertwined from the Marchers who came to support the students during the March for Our Lives in Wausau. About 200 people joined student organizers on the 400 Block in Downtown Wausau to remember the 17 students who died February 14th at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Anna Klieber, one of the organizers from Wausau West, spoke about growing up with social media and technology. It is a way to stay connected. She also sees the harm that social media can do. Guns Explained With Cats

Protecting Our Families and Communities From... “Vicious Cats?” Well...maybe we don't have a dangerous cat problem, but, don't we have an obligation to protect our children, ourselves and friends and neighbors from harm if we can? According to the latest “Quinnipiac Poll,” most Americans think so...

Banning Assault Rifles WORKS!

Horrific mass shootings do not have to happen. They are not inevitable. We know how to reduce the number of mass shootings and the number of people killed in these attacks. We know this because it has been successfully done in other countries. Australia is a good example because of their success and their similarity to our country. Like us Australians have a wild west, rugged individual mentality, and a tradition of gun ownership. Guns and hunting are popular. They have similar macho attitudes about manliness. They drink a lot of beer. The Aussies love rugby which, like ...

Guns in Our Communities 2017

Once again a mass shorting is in the news. In California an angry white man shot up a small rural community apparently over employment and domestic problems. Before that in Las Vegas an angry, rich white man killed 59 and wounded 527 for no apparent reason at all. And the list goes on and on and on.... The common denominator in all these tragedies is the easy availability of guns, specifically military style weapons with high capacity magazi...

THE FLAG DROOPED SADLY AT HALF-STAFF

The flag drooped sadly at half-staff as the nation mourned the slaughter of Americans having fun at a country-music concert in Las Vegas, Nevada, October 1, 2017. The life-giving blood of 59 concert goers gushed, oozed, and flowed as they lie dying. The horrified ran, hid, protected and aided others as more than 500 women and men were wounded and mowed down like grass on a field oozing blood, crying, screaming, and writhing in pain. http://www.ktnv.com/news/photos-remembering-those-killed-in-las-vegas-mass-shooting#id0 http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-na-las-v...

FOUR DEATHS

Four people are dead in the Wausau community. Four families are grieving along with a shocked community. Thousands of people came to pay their respects to the fallen police officer. A woman who was abused and her six children will deal with the grief for the rest of their lives knowing what the husband/father has done. The families will never be the same. The Wausau community will continue to soul search and ask: how can this happen here? What do Wisconsin Republican legislators do? Propose a bill that allows hidden deadly weapons to be carried without a permit. This ...

OUR MORAL COMPASS IN WISCONSIN

moral compass
Our moral compass is “an inner sense which distinguishes what is right from what is wrong, functioning as a guide for morally appropriate behavior.” A recent comment from state Republican Representative, Bob Gannon, should raise concerns regarding our moral compass and how it guides us as citizens of Wisconsin. In response to an altercation involving a shooting at a mall in Madison, Gannon says citizens should arm themselves to “clean our society of these scum bags.” He says armed citizens should shoot to kill aiming for vital organs in the “center mass” ...
