WISCONSIN TAXPAYERS CONTINUE TO SUPPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS
According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, 286 public school referendums have been passed (out of 421 districts that went to referendum) since January 1, 2010. This means people in these districts have voted to raise their property taxes because of the cuts to education under the Walker Administration. We need to elect officials who will take responsibility for maintaining our public schools and roads. It is unbelievable that local school districts need to hold referendums for money to maintain schools.

Keep Our Public Schools Fully Funded
The Blue Ribbon Commission on School Funding held its final public hearing on June 4, at the Wisconsin State Capitol. Public education supporters came to send a united message to keep funding public schools fully.

My granddaughter plays in her middle school orchestra. Last week I had the honor of attending her spring orchestra concert. The concert was a celebration of the students’ achievements as well as their wonderful teacher. The concert also celebrated the community coming together. SCHOOL SAFETY PLAN
Gov. Walker signed into law his school safety plan. The plan gives $100 million to keep schools safe. The plan offers competitive grants to all school districts for security improvements to school building and staff training. His plan does not include any mention of gun safety. Dr. Todd Bohm, the assistant principal, and Erin Jacobson, the high school social worker, agreed to an interview about the food and clothing pantry that was started in 2016 after seeing the needs of many students. Dr. Bohm wanted a convenient way for students and families to access food and clothing without the barriers.
